Case Study: Dulwich College

Sand-dressed Artificial Turf Pitch for Hockey

The refurbishment and upgrading of an existing facility and its environs to a high specification with the new artificial turf pitch being designed to deliver International Hockey Federation (FIH) National Performance Standard.

A significant degree of reconstruction was required, converting the pitch sub-base to an engineered macadam structure incorporating the provision of root protection barriers along one side. The selected playing surface is a state of the art sand-dressed texturised monofilament artificial turf, installed over a new in-situ bound rubber performance layer. Permanent line markings for hockey are inlaid into the surface.

The perimeter fence line has been replaced by 3m weld mesh panels to impart greater durability with additional 2m netting to extend ball stop capability. New pitch access pathways, team shelter recess, storage and access decontamination areas complete the remodelled sporting facility.
