As a father of a young family, David spends a good deal of his time with his three sons.

As Group CEO, Spike leads the strategic direction and performance of The Slatter Group and its operating companies, drawing on his extensive experience as former Managing Director of White Horse Contractors.
He works closely with teams across the business to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with integrity. Known for his practical, hands-on approach, Spike remains closely connected to site operations and project teams, bringing a strong problem-solving mindset, deep technical understanding and a genuine commitment to quality, people and the environments in which we work.
Background
With an extensive background in water and soil engineering and over 17 years of experience working for the UK’s leading water engineering and sports construction companies, his love of the industry is clear in his work. Joining The Slatter Group in 2010, David has led many flagship projects, culminating in the successful delivery of numerous multimillion-pound sports hub projects.
Following the acquisition of White Horse Contractors in 2019, David was appointed to lead the business, ensuring a smooth transition and guiding the company through the successful delivery of its growth objectives, while championing innovation and the adoption of new technologies to enhance efficiency, performance and long-term value.
Personal
David was a keen rugby player and now enjoys watching and coaching his son at Newbury RFC. You would be hard-pressed to know whether he is happier on the shooting field or up a mountain attached to a snowboard (or possibly in the après bar afterwards). He enjoys playing cricket, fishing, watching his daughter learn to horse ride as well as being a “keen foodie “.

Leading the sales function across the Group, Paul shapes the sales strategy and oversees the sales teams to build strong, long-term, relationships with clients and partners. He has been instrumental in increasing our share of the sports construction market while accelerating growth in Placemaking and External Environment projects. Working closely with colleagues in Professional Services, Estimating, and Contracts he focuses on providing clients with honest, expert, advice, commercial clarity and a consistent, high-quality experience from first conversation through to project completion.
Background
Paul joined the company in 2013 with over 10 years sales experience working with some of the leading property, engineering, planning, project management and consultancy firms. Understanding the importance of relationship development, client needs and researching his market place, he has brought with him a multitude of transferable skills.
Personal
A keen all round sportsman in his spare time, Paul enjoys Football, Rugby and spending time with his three children.
Responsibilities
Having joined us in 2015 Ben works on our major sports pitch and facility portfolio including projects within the Football Association Framework. In addition to preparing costings and client proposals, Ben is responsible for a full range of pre-construction elements such as design, planning submissions, condition sign-off, drainage, civil engineering, acoustic surveys and ground condition reports. The projects include 3G football turf and 3G rugby turf pitches, hockey, tennis, netball, cricket, athletics and multi-use games areas (MUGA), using sand dressed, sand filled, non-filled artificial turf systems and polymeric surfaces.
Background
Having secured a BA (Honours) 2:1 degree in Business from Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, Ben gained industry experience with a major civil engineering and sports facility organisation as a member of their sports estimating team. This provided the opportunity to work on a variety of contracts including Hockey pitches for the Olympic Games and 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Personal
Food is very much a ‘passion’ which sees Ben cooking most days as a way to relax. Helping at weekends on the family farm and looking after his own flock of sheep, ensures Ben has plenty to occupy his time.

In his role, Nicholas will develop, implement and monitor operational systems and processes ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity in an ever-evolving industry. Nicholas will be responsible for the development and long-term operational plans of the business, maximising efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration. Drawing on his wealth of experience as a proven Surveyor and Financial Director, Nicholas will be developing financial and budgetary plans and real-time project cost reporting, reviewing and implementing supply chain agreements, tender packages, purchase order systems and standardising contracts for large procurements.
Background
With past roles including Construction Director, Senior Surveyor, Financial Director and 25-years owning two successful construction businesses operating in the West Berkshire area, Nicholas’ invaluable experience is evident and is looking forward to making a strong impact to the team and the wider business.
Personal
Outside of work Nicholas enjoys spending time with his family including his wife, their three children and four grand-children. Nicholas enjoys playing tennis in his free-time and spends his weekends fishing and clay-shooting. Nicholas is an enthusiastic chef and with a busy home/work schedule, he always ensures there’s enough time to enjoy cooking for his family.

Jon Turnbull is one of our dedicated Contracts Managers, who oversee projects across the country and take responsibility for our dedicated site teams.
Background
With over 15 years in the sports building industry, Jon started as a ground worker, building facilities, then progressed to become Operations Director at another well known sports construction company before seeking a new challenge and joining S&C Slatter in 2022.
Personal
A big DIY enthusiast, Jon likes off road quad bike endurance racing - 2.5 hour races in some challenging terrain!
Responsibilities
Matthew is the commercial lead for Placemaking, responsible for establishing and nurturing long-term client relationships and promoting our construction and professional services expertise across open spaces and public realm projects, including at industry conferences and events.
Working closely with colleagues across the business, Matthew takes a consultative approach that equips clients and stakeholders with specialist insight, clear guidance, commercial transparency and a consistently high standard of service from early engagement through to final handover.
Background
Matthew supplemented a very successful school education with further study and training in Public Services and the Performing Arts. Prior to joining S&C Slatter, Matthew achieved significant career progression within the property sector, resulting in a Senior Management position with a prominent regional company. However, his CV also includes experience within local government and retail sales.
Personal
Matthew enjoys a wide range of country pursuits and is a keen sportsman. He particularly enjoys playing squash and following his beloved Crystal Palace football club. In 2013 Matthew completed the Three Peaks Challenge, successfully climbing three mountains in 24 hours.

Nathaniel supports clients across the entire project journey, from initial site visit and proposed approach through to quotation, order and construction.
Taking a consultative approach, he works closely with public and private sector partners to develop a clear understanding of each client’s unique objectives - whether improving performance, increasing participation, driving revenue, enhancing sustainability, or a combination of these - ensuring every project is carefully designed and delivered to achieve lasting, long-term success.
Background
With over 15 years of experience in facility management, sports development, and sports construction, Nathaniel strives to deliver tailored solutions that help clients create high-performing, sustainable, and financially viable sports and leisure facilities.
Nathaniel holds a BSc in Sports Science with Management from Loughborough University, a Level 5 ILM qualification in Leadership and Management, and a NEBOSH certificate, providing him with a solid foundation in strategic planning, health and safety, and leadership.
Personal
A former gymnast, Nathaniel’s flexibility now serves him well as he balances work with spending time with his young family.
Responsibilities
Drawing on his experience in estimating and CAD design, alongside a strong creative flair and background in athletics, Andy’s role spans sales, marketing and the leadership of athletics estimating across the business, as well as capturing project footage as a qualified drone pilot.
Background
Andy began his design and estimating work at an electrical firm, where he honed his skills and worked his way up to Estimating Manager for their London branch.
In the years that followed his focus was on assisting with the AutoCAD Design work for the 2012 London Olympics which was a particular career highlight. Since then, he has worked as an estimator for a number of main contractors such as Kier and Francis construction.
Personal
With a son and daughter under three, Andy's 'downtime' is pretty busy and is mainly spent in the garden or jumping on the trampoline! When he does have some time spare, he enjoys DIY, running, swimming or keeping fit in different ways - he's not one for standing still!
Responsibilities
Working closely with clients, Scott provides advice and guidance on sports construction projects ranging from new facility construction through to the refurbishment, repair and enhancement of existing facilities. From initial enquiry and quotation through to project delivery and long-term client relationships, he offers clear advice and practical solutions to help organisations maximise the performance, longevity and value of their sports facilities, ensuring works are well planned, efficiently delivered and aligned with each client’s needs.
Background
After achieving a 2:1 degree in Sports Coaching, Scott joined Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation as a Community Coach. He was quickly promoted to Programme Manager, where he was responsible for increasing participation in youth, women and girls’, and disability cricket, as well as developing new club-based programmes across the county. In his final role at the Foundation, prior to joining S&C Slatter, Scott became Club Development Manager, overseeing 200 clubs across a range of areas including Clubmark and youth competitions.
Personal
As his career suggests, Scott is a keen cricketer and has graced the field at Lord’s winning the National Village Knockout Cup with his village club, Dumbleton. Now a new father, he is more likely to be knocked for six by a smile from his young daughter.

Stephan develops accurate cost plans and commercial submissions for placemaking projects across the Group, coordinating tender, bid and programme outputs to meet key objectives and deadlines. Collaborating closely with colleagues across sales, procurement and the supply chain, he ensures proposals are well considered, competitively positioned and clearly articulated, supporting clients’ commercial objectives and informing project decisions.
Background
After completing his school studies, Stephan undertook an apprenticeship doing general building works then moved on into decorative horticulture. Following 7 years in the hard landscaping industry, he up his own landscaping working on bespoke garden designs and restaurant gardens throughout Warwickshire and the West Midlands.
Using this wide-ranging experience, Stephan later became an estimator for a commercial landscaping company in the West Midlands, soon becoming a Senior Estimator for a national landscape company, then on to the role of Head of Commercial and Operations for a pan European landscape group.
Personal
In his spare time, Stephan loves gardening and has a young family who like to keep him busy! He is an active and passionate supporter of both Coventry City FC and Coventry RFC. –
Responsibilities
As Head of Sports Estimating, Avi is responsible for producing accurate and robust cost estimates across the business, leading the preparation and submission of tenders, bids and programmes, and managing priorities to meet key deadlines. Working closely with colleagues in estimating, sales and procurement, as well as the wider supply chain, he ensures each submission is commercially sound, competitive and professionally presented, adding genuine value to the projects we tender.
Background
After completing an Associate Degree in Landscape Architecture, Avi began his career as a Cost Estimator with an established landscaping contractor, progressing through the business to become Residential Manager. In 2015, he moved into the sports construction sector, joining Blakedown Sport & Play, where his career continued to develop and he was ultimately appointed Director.
In 2025, Avi joined S&C Slatter, drawn by the opportunity to work with a best-in-class contractor, supported by the resources, expertise and in-house capability required to consistently secure and deliver large-scale sports construction projects from concept through to completion.
Personal
A keen sportsman, Avi is a qualified tennis coach with a passion for martial arts, but as a father he now finds himself more often wrestling his diary to make time for his young family.
Responsibilities
Working closely with clients and colleagues Edward conducts site surveys, compiles scopes of work, and liaises with the supply chain to build accurate cost estimates for the senior estimating and sales teams.
Background
After graduating with a degree in Mathematics, Edward combined his passion for numbers with practical experience in landscaping to undertake an estimator role with a commercial landscaper in central England. Following a move ‘down under’, his career developed in Australia, working for a large landscaping business in Victoria before progressing to a nationwide civil engineering group. Before joining S&C, Edward was a Senior Estimator at a groundwork and civil engineers in SW England.
Personal
Cooking is a long-standing passion, although with two young children, sophisticated cuisine has largely given way to family favourites such as spaghetti bolognese and smashed avocado. In his limited free time, Edward enjoys watching Ipswich Town and listening to BBC Radio 3.

Nick leads S&C Slatter’s Professional Services team, working closely with clients, architects, designers, stakeholders, investors and their advisers to support the development of masterplans that meet planning, commercial, ecological and community objectives. By integrating early-stage technical insight with optimised construction costs and realistic delivery programmes, he helps improve certainty and accelerate project timescales.
He develops a detailed understanding of each client’s objectives and project requirements, undertaking site visits to identify risks and inform safety, environmental and logistical planning. By drawing on in-house expertise and a trusted network of specialist consultants, he ensures projects are accurately costed, programmes are optimised and risks are effectively managed from the outset.
Background
Nick holds a first-class BA (Hons) degree in Business Management and Communications and has built his career across the property and construction sectors, with a strong focus on client relationships, estimating and project management. Having held senior roles delivering bespoke, quality-led projects, he joined S&C Slatter in 2018 as a Sales Estimator.
Since joining the business, Nick has progressed rapidly, playing a key role in the delivery of S&C Slatter’s major projects and becoming instrumental in the growth and success of the Professional Services department.
Personal
Nick enjoys spending time with his young family and a range of personal activities including keeping fit, gardening, walking, cycling and skiing.
Responsibilities
Working within the Professional Services team, Ben manages administrative and project management tasks, develops project plans, and identifies and mitigates issues during the pre-construction phase to ensure smooth project delivery.
Background
After attaining a BSc in Geography from Bath Spa University, Ben moved to Scandinavia, living and working in Sweden for three years. Following his return to the UK, he joined S&C Slatter as an Estimator in 2022 and has since progressed his career in line with the growth of the Group’s Professional Services function.
Personal
A keen footballer and avid Liverpool FC supporter, Ben is also an enthusiastic cook, whose 'leftovers' lunches often draw an appreciative audience around the office.
Responsibilities
Tom is a member of the pre-construction team (PCT) working closely with Design and Project Delivery colleagues in the preparation and submission of sports facility designs and planning applications.
Background
Tom is an accomplished professional with 25+ years’ experience within the sports facility construction industry and provides diverse services to clients including leadership, design, project consultancy and management.
Tom contributes to the successful delivery of sports facility projects including considered feasibility and conceptual studies, analysis of project specific survey data, preparation of detailed scheme designs; as well as securing development control and statutory approvals and delivering consultancy services.
Tom is a creative and confident team player who works effectively within a multi-professional and process driven environment to guarantee customer satisfaction.
Personal
Outside of work, Tom is heavily involved in football as an FA qualified coach and HTFC U12/U13 football manager. He enjoys spending time with his family and has a strong interest in music, particularly playing the drums!

Jordan's responsibilities are to promote a positive health and safety culture throughout S&C Slatter and its supply chain. His role involves the effective management of all aspects of quality, health, safety, environmental and training, to drive the development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies across the company.

Jordan has been a chartered health and safety practitioner across a range of industries since 2012 - including construction, rail, retail, warehousing and logistics, healthcare and property management.
Personal
A big fan of sport, Jordan played a lot of football and cricket growing up and watches his beloved Liverpool FC whenever he can. His biggest passion is food – growing it, cooking it and of course eating it.

Managing major construction contracts whilst liaising with site managers/clients throughout, to ensure projects are running as planned, to budget and as efficiently as possible.
Background
Left school as a welding fabricator & 4 years later commenced my career at S&C Slatter. Having been a labourer, a site manager, contracts supervisor and now a contracts manager, I have an enhanced knowledge of the business from all aspects.

Responsibilities
As a Contracts Manager, Steve is responsible for delivering sports construction projects across the UK, ensuring works are completed safely, on time and within agreed budgets. His role encompasses site safety, planning and programme management, team leadership, coordination with procurement and estimating teams, and effective stakeholder communication and management. Steve is also looking forward to delivering his first athletics track.
Background
Steve began his career in 2012 as an Assistant Estimator with Thornton Sports in Lancashire, where he progressed rapidly through the business to become AGP Framework Manager and Chief Estimator. He later joined Souters Sports as Regional Manager, working on a range of natural grass pitch projects.
Following a period working as an FFE Estimator within the student accommodation sector, Steve joined Blakedown Sport & Play as an Estimator before transitioning into Contracts Management in 2023. He joined S&C Slatter in early 2025, bringing with him a broad blend of estimating, commercial and delivery experience across the sports construction sector.
Personal
A keen sportsman, Steve enjoys anything that involves a ball or a piste. He is currently progressing through grassroots football coaching, with an ambition to support the development of players at local clubs.
Responsibilities
Wayne will be managing construction contracts at all levels, from the smallest playground to a single tennis court to the largest full size AGP with clubhouse and carpark with full road infrastructure. Wayne is a very experienced contracts manager in many different aspects of construction including full groundwork packages for secondary schools as well as IAAF running tracks, sports pitches for all sports and even artificial horse racing tracks, making sure projects are built on time, within budget and with integrity.
Background
Wayne has worked within the sports construction industry over 30 years, where he started with Woodholme Construction in 1990 using laser technology for paving, progressing to tarmac foreman, and moving into contract management in 2005.
With his vast experience within the industry projects Wayne has worked on both the Commonwealth Games running tracks, both Manchester and Hampden Park as well as The Alexander Stadium, Don Valley, Crystal Palace, and lots more within Schools, Colleges, and Universities. Also working with numerous football clubs including Aston Villa's training ground at Bodymoor Heath and Leicester City at Belvoir Road and to complete the varied works within sports construction completed the upper construction works at Lingfield Park and Wolverhampton all weather racecourses.
Personal
Outside of work he mad keen on all Sport, especially Golf & Football (particularly watching my grandkids play for their local teams), love spending time with his Family, ( 3 Children and 9 Grandchildren ).

Pete leads the sports surfacing programme at S&C Slatter, working closely with Contracts Managers and key stakeholders to ensure all surfacing works are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest standards. He is responsible for recruiting and managing the surfacing team and visits sites in advance to ensure crews are fully briefed and aware of any site-specific requirements.
Background
Pete has over 35 years’ experience in the sports surfacing industry, including the last 11 years with S&C Slatter, bringing extensive practical knowledge and leadership to the role.
Personal
Outside of work, Pete enjoys gardening, watching rugby and spending time with his family.
Responsibilities
Nik is responsible for the design and installation of fencing across all Slatter Group projects. He monitors developments within the fencing market, assessing new products and systems to identify the most effective solutions for clients. Working closely with Contracts Managers, Nik oversees the fencing programme to ensure all installations meet agreed cost, programme and quality standards.
Background
With an early career in shop-fitting, Nik moved into the construction sector via a retail construction specialist, where his role evolved into a specialist focus on fencing. He has spent over 10 years working within the fencing industry, developing strong technical knowledge and practical experience across a wide range of project types.
Personal
A keen musician and skilled luthier (guitar maker), Nik also enjoys cooking, travelling and entertaining.
Responsibilities
Liaising closely with our Contract managers and Site teams, Simon procures and arranges materials and out-sourced services to enable projects to be delivered to specification, budget and time plan.
Background
Prior to joining the S&C Slatter team in 2015, Simon enjoyed a successful career in the Building Services Sector developing his experience and skills as he progressed from a Purchasing Assistant to Buyer within a team managing a multi-million-pound project portfolio. Qualified in Supply Chain Management and currently working towards a CIPS qualification. Simon enjoys a strong working relationship with both colleagues and external suppliers.
Personal
Very much into ‘active hobbies’, Simon lists scuba diving (advanced open water), football, running, gym, cycling and hiking amongst his interests.
Background
Completed a Business Apprenticeship at a local council, and then went on to do buying at a major surveying equipment company. Experienced the customer service side of things as a customer service representative, and then naturally magnetised back to buying!
Personal
Owning a Springer Spaniel, a lot of time is spent outside walking/running in the fresh air. Keen skier, love to cook and of course eat out at new places with family and friends!

Working closely with the Operations Director, Ward is responsible for preparing project cost analysis reports and benchmarking forecast costs against actual expenditure to help ensure projects remain on budget. He also supports the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of operational systems and processes, with a particular focus on automation, data accuracy, and efficiency.
Background
After achieving a 2:1 degree in Economics from the University of Plymouth, Ward went on to complete a postgraduate MSc in Quantity Surveying, graduating with Merit. He began his career as an Estimator with a commercial roofing specialist before developing his skillset further as a software developer. Ward joined S&C Slatter in 2025, where he applies his combined commercial and technical expertise to support effective project delivery and the continuous optimisation of operational processes.
Personal
A keen outdoor enthusiast, Ward enjoys bouldering and coastal walking, although a new house and young child occupy most of his time these days.
Responsibilities
Charlotte holds general administrative responsibilities within the procurement team, including checking invoices against deliveries, organising and managing the hire of plant and machinery, filing and scanning delivery tickets, and maintaining the vehicle insurance database. She liaises with site teams to ensure deliveries arrive on schedule and compiles Operation and Maintenance manuals for clients upon project completion.
Background
Upon leaving school, Charlotte joined the business as a Support Assistant within the buying team. Within 18 months, she was promoted to her current role as Assistant Buyer, marking the start of her career in procurement and reflecting her development within the team.
Responsibilities
Sally’s cheerful personality and ‘Get things done’ attitude means she fits well into our very busy Accounts Team. Managing a range of responsibilities including client billing, supplier payments and day to day banking issues, Sally has a highly professional approach which reflects the ethos and standards of the company. A Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT), Sally’s experience and all round skills are proving to be a valuable asset; well appreciated by clients and colleagues alike.
Background
Having gained A level passes in Accounting and Business Studies, together with 10 GCEs, Sally embarked on a career in accounts which has taken in positions with West Berkshire Council and Vodafone. However most significantly, Sally enjoyed positions of key financial responsibility with a major local retailer, which like S&C Slatter, placed a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.

Socially, Sally’s interests include bodyboarding, sightseeing, history and pub quizzes.
Responsibilities
Jon's role is to look after the accounts payable function of the business, where he is responsible for processing any invoices received and ensuring that suppliers are paid in a timely fashion. Based in our Enborne office, Jon is a key member of the finance team.
Background
Jon's work background is in the retail industry, where he worked for a number of years as a retail manager for an independent garden centre in the Cotswolds. Undertaking a career change, he moved into the accounts team at the business, studying for his AAT qualifications and working in the accounts team there for 7 years.
Personal
With 3 daughters, Jon spends a lot of time outside work with them. He also enjoys socialising with friends and family, playing football, cooking, and listening to music.
Responsibilities
Jo has a very varied job ranging from assisting the sales and estimating team, supporting the Group Director with his busy diary to working with marketing to organise and attend events and being the first port of call when a new enquiry comes in, working with various software to collect relevent data.
Background
Jo has always worked within an office setting and has a variety of roles and past experience from construction company administrator to doctors surgery receptionist.
Personal
Jo enjoys keeping fit by running and attending early morning spin classes and has even ran a few half marathons in the past, including training for the London Marathon! Jo enjoys gardening and has her own allotment, enjoying growing a mixture of fruit & veg. Jo is also a qualified Massage Therapist and enjoys using her qualification from time to time.
