By working closely with every member of the team he is able to ensure that works are delivered in an efficient, safe and environmentally friendly manner and that we act with the integrity that we pride ourselves on.

Having worked in the family business since 2003 David has worked in all areas giving him an ‘all round’ understanding of the company’s operation.
Personal
As a father of a young family, David spends a good deal of his time with his three sons.

Philip manages the company’s substantial portfolio of cricket projects, tarmacadam surfacing works and our specialist synthetic turf surfacing teams. He is also responsible for managing the company’s extensive fleet of vehicles.
Background
Since starting work in the family business aged just 16-years, Philip has worked his way through the ranks, giving him a thorough understanding of the practical side of the business. This essential knowledge allows invaluable experience to deal with on-site challenges in an efficient and effective way.
Personal
Philip’s hobbies are many and varied and include custom cars, fishing and motor cross.

Identifying and developing The Slatter Group strategy, marketing activity and establishing new and nurturing existing client relationships.
Background
Jason joined S&C Slatter in 2010 and has operated in the specialist external sports facility construction industry since 1997. Jason has extensive knowledge and understanding of the sectors in which The Slatter Group operates, working with clients to develop effective design and build solutions. With a keen focus on the latest industry innovations, product development and environmental systems, Jason works daily with a broad range of clients to determine best value facility solutions.
Personal
As a keen sportsman with (very) modest talent, Jason plays tennis and watches rugby whenever he can.
Responsibilities
Alex is responsible for S&C Slatter’s cricket business. His aim is to ensure that all our clients receive the very best service from initial enquiry and site visit, to the design proposal and quotation, all the way to through to order and construction.
Background
Alex has worked in the industry since 1995, and joined S&C Slatter, initially as Sales Manager, in 2004. In previous roles with other companies, Alex worked in internal and external sales, and therefore can apply direct experience to his role from all levels of the business.
Personal
Alex is a sports nut, which was one of the reasons that first brought him into the industry. He is a keen Leicester City fan but also follows cricket, rugby, American football and cycling amongst others. He also enjoys travelling and often tries to mix travel and sport, catching live games as part of weekend European breaks or on his further flung travels.
Responsibilities
Having joined us in 2015 Ben works on our major sports pitch and facility portfolio including projects within the Football Association Framework. In addition to preparing costings and client proposals, Ben is responsible for a full range of pre-construction elements such as design, planning submissions, condition sign-off, drainage, civil engineering, acoustic surveys and ground condition reports. The projects include 3G football turf and 3G rugby turf pitches, hockey, tennis, netball, cricket, athletics and multi-use games areas (MUGA), using sand dressed, sand filled, non-filled artificial turf systems and polymeric surfaces.
Background
Having secured a BA (Honours) 2:1 degree in Business from Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, Ben gained industry experience with a major civil engineering and sports facility organisation as a member of their sports estimating team. This provided the opportunity to work on a variety of contracts including Hockey pitches for the Olympic Games and 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Personal
Food is very much a ‘passion’ which sees Ben cooking most days as a way to relax. Helping at weekends on the family farm and looking after his own flock of sheep, ensures Ben has plenty to occupy his time.

Identifying and managing sales leads through various platforms including planning leads, trade press, exhibitions and seminars. A strong focus on increasing market share within the sport pitch sector and developing project opportunities in conjunction with the Commercial Director.
Background
Paul joined the company in 2013 with over 10 years sales experience working with some of the leading property, engineering, planning, project management and consultancy firms. Understanding the importance of relationship development, client needs and researching his market place, he has brought with him a multitude of transferable skills.
Personal
A keen all round sportsman in his spare time, Paul enjoys Football, Rugby and spending time with his two children.
Responsibilities
Matthew has a wealth of practical experience in operational management and sales which is put to effective use in his role within our Project Team. Working as our lead specialist in pitch maintenance services, Matthew also advises clients on the provision of upgraded or new sports facilities.
Confident and highly resourceful, Matthew has an excellent sense of humour which he puts to good use during the working day.
Background
Matthew supplemented a very successful school education with further study and training in Public Services and the Performing Arts. Prior to joining S&C Slatter, Matthew achieved significant career progression within the property sector, resulting in a Senior Management position with a prominent regional company. However, his CV also includes experience within local government and retail sales.
Personal
Matthew enjoys a wide range of country pursuits and is a keen sportsman. He particularly enjoys playing squash and following his beloved Crystal Palace football club. In 2013 Matthew completed the Three Peaks Challenge, successfully climbing three mountains in 24 hours.
Responsibilities
Our Pre-Construction Team is a key element of our client offering and the whole project delivery process. As the team Quantity Surveyor, Nick plays an important role in managing costs and creating enhanced value for money whilst still achieving the required performance and quality standards. From initial feasibility and throughout the entire project life cycle, Nick is continually working with and assessing materials, time and labour cost estimates and plans. Whilst this obviously requires requisite formal skills and experience, elevated level numeracy and an eye for detail are also essential.
Background
Nick is a qualified surveying professional with a BSc Upper Second-Class degree in Quantity Surveying and Construction Commercial Management from Nottingham Trent University. He has over 12 years’ experience of the construction sector; latterly in project development with a sports pitch consultant. Prior to that Nick worked with a floodlighting specialist whose product reach spanned commercial, retail and transport industries.
Personal
A Leeds United supporter and rugby fan, Nick is also an avid golfer with membership of two societies. Away from sport, travelling with family and friends is enjoyed whenever the opportunity arises.
Responsibilities
Having previously worked as an Estimator within Main Contracting, Andrew’s ability to understand the tender process and contractual side of submission documentation makes him a valuable new addition to the team.
His role currently extends to pricing new build sports pitches & refurbishments for consultants, main contractors, and framework bodies alike.
Background
Andrew also brings a wealth of Civils experience having predominantly worked for one of the UK’s leading aggregate surfacing specialists (prior to his work within main contracting).
This role included formulating design specifications & concepts for groundworks schemes; and thereupon putting forward cost proposals direct to clients ranging from £25k – to circa £500k in value.
His first professional role in the industry was as Management Trainee; having Graduated with BEng 2.1 in Civil & Coastal Engineering from the University of Plymouth and having completed various industry placements.
Personal
In his spare time Andrew plays in band; so his weekends are often spent playing shows or in a recording studio. The exception to this is if the weather is good, in which case he’ll be out on the motorcycle or playing tennis with his partner.

Nick is a senior member of our Pre-Construction Team (PCT) working closely with Design and Project Delivery colleagues in the preparation and submission of sports facilities designs and planning applications. In evaluating and costing product and works specifications, Nick requires a comprehensive understanding of each site profile and the client’s objectives. This requires a portion of his time being spent ‘on site’, assessing the potential works environment and logistics.
Background
With a BA (HONS) first class degree in Business Management & Communications, Nick has developed his career as a results-driven business professional, specialising in estimating, client relationships and project management. This has embraced positions of significant responsibility within the construction and property sectors with an accent on the bespoke design and delivery of quality-based project solutions. Such experience is highly relevant to the S&C Slatter brand and client offer equipping Nick with the business culture necessary to be a highly successful member of the team.

Tom is a member of the pre-construction team (PCT) working closely with Design and Project Delivery colleagues in the preparation and submission of sports facility designs and planning applications.
Background
Tom is an accomplished professional with 25+ years’ experience within the sports facility construction industry and provides diverse services to clients including leadership, design, project consultancy and management.
Tom contributes to the successful delivery of sports facility projects including considered feasibility and conceptual studies, analysis of project specific survey data, preparation of detailed scheme designs; as well as securing development control and statutory approvals and delivering consultancy services.
Tom is a creative and confident team player who works effectively within a multi-professional and process driven environment to guarantee customer satisfaction.
Personal
Outside of work, Tom is heavily involved in football as an FA qualified coach and HTFC U12/U13 football manager. He enjoys spending time with his family and has a strong interest in music, particularly playing the drums!

As a key member of a design and planning team Josh’s role as Project Designer includes working collaboratively with the sales and contracts team alongside clients to develop and create drawings and designs from an initial enquiry through to project completion. 2D and 3D plans are put together to provide visual impressions, meet planning application requirements and form project construction packages.
Background
Josh joined the team in 2013 as a former Precision Engineering apprentice progressing into the Landscape and Garden Design industry, graduating with an Upper Second-Class BSc Honours degree in 2012. Since joining he has worked within the team not only in design but also in an estimating role for several years.
Personal
Josh’s hobbies are focused on sport and the great outdoors. A keen all year-round golfer and fisherman, whilst spending much of his free time hiking and mountain biking.

With first class organisational and planning skills, Sarah loves to work 'under pressure', liaising with colleagues and working to meet challenging deadlines. Very much a ‘team player’, Sarah likes the variety and fast pace of the customer-centric sales office, where her strong work ethic and enthusiasm are particularly appreciated.
Sarah gives important administrative support to our Commercial Director Jason Douglass and our team of Project Managers, Designers and Estimators, and is very often the first point of contact for sales telephone enquiries.

With over 30 years’ experience within sales and operations, Sarah is highly skilled in using a wide range of office software and administrative systems. However, being naturally ‘pro-active’ and adapt at multi-tasking, Sarah’s career has embraced virtually every type of responsibility and function found within a dynamic office environment. Sarah has enjoyed working in various industries including Construction, Healthcare and Equestrian Services.

Walking in the Countryside with her dog, Stig, gardening, cooking, skiing, theatre and reading feature among Sarah’s many leisure interests.

S&C Slatter is primarily known for sports construction, but we've nearly always undertaken surfacing and civils work alongside any sports builds.
As surfacing and civils is Simon’s area of expertise, his aim is to grow the department beyond the current success in sporting civils, into the areas he has strong experience with like business centres, developers and architects.
Background
Simon has over 20 years’ experience in the surfacing and civils trade, developing over the years from supervising work, to undertaking contract management work and running sites. From here he progressed to estimating and selling work, then to running teams and bringing work into the business.
Simon has worked in a variety of areas, across commercial, private, estate, agricultural works, business centres, shopping centres etc. These are his specialist areas, with all aspects from initial site survey through to build including civils, drainage – the whole package!
Personal
Simon is a big rugby fan, his team is Windsor RFC. He plays golf with his wife, enjoys socialising with friends, dinners, holidays with family and taking his black lab Nora for a walk. The cat is less important…!

Conceiving and implementing the marketing and communications strategy for the Slatter Group. Supporting sales team initiatives and managing relationships with partners.

Jim is widely experienced across the media, publishing, and marketing sectors with particular expertise in utilising digital media to accelerate business growth.

A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society Jim is a keen traveller who also enjoys long distance swimming, messing about in old cars, and playing with his three children.
Responsibilities
Supporting the Head of Marketing in The Slatter Group Marketing activities. This includes digital and print design, social media content creation, articles, case studies, website updates, photo and video editing.
Background
With a background in digital marketing, data analytics and film, Grace joined The Slatter Group in 2019. She has both agency and in-house experience across the B2B and B2C sectors and holds a Cert SocM from the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing.
Personal
A member of BAFTA Crew 2018/19, Grace is a keen filmmaker who can otherwise be found at a gig, on a road bike or spending time with friends and family.

Nick's responsibilities are to promote a positive health and safety culture throughout The Slatter Group companies and supply chain. Nick contributes to the Company’s HSEQ+T commitments in the highlighting and promoting best practice, ensuring construction Health & Safety plans are in place prior to the commencement of all projects.
Background
I joined S&C Slatter Ltd in February 2020 after making a decision to embark on a new challenge with the company after being impressed with their vision to progress. I have been a qualified safety professional for 4 and a half years and within this time have gained many qualifications such as achieving my NEBOSH construction certificate and becoming a technical (TECH) member of IOSH whilst working towards becoming a chartered member. Some of my other qualifications include being a qualified scaffold inspector and a Temporary works co-ordinator and with a NRSWA Supervisor. I left Dyer and Butler after being at the company for 6 and a half years where I specialised in Health and Safety within the rail/construction and highways sectors after progressing through the business from a labourer.

Ex-professional footballer that retired though injuries at 24. I have a young family with 2 children that keep me and my fiancé busy. I enjoy socialising with friends and family and participate in many sports in my spare time.

Suzanne is responsible for managing Finance and HR Functions across The Slatter Group, including S&C Slatter and White Horse Contractors. Her friendly, ‘keep going’ personality and effective communication skills at all levels is a valuable asset within all aspects of the business. Working day life is extremely varied supporting her dedicated teams.
Background
Suzanne joined The Slatter Group in 2019 after predominately working as a Financial Controller within the IT Industry for many years. Since achieving Finance and Business qualifications many years ago, she has gained invaluable experience & skills and often rewarded by promotion throughout her career for her efforts.
Personal
In Suzanne’s social life, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends and has a passion for travelling and Football. Many weekends/evenings involve supporting her son playing Football and singing along on her home Karaoke machine.

Michelle oversees all Accounts, HR and Office functions with the company.
Background
Having commenced her career in the actuarial sector working in pensions, Michelle subsequently moved into accounting. There she worked for a large auditing firm whilst completing her studies, prior to joining S&C Slatter in 2010. Since starting a family Michelle has been a key member of the company management team.

Background
On completion of her A-Levels (Geography, PE and Dance) Charlotte joined a market research firm where she was responsible for general office duties and payroll. She also dealt with clients in the field on a regular basis. Wanting to forge out a career path she made the move to S&C Slatter in 2013 as an Accounts Apprentice. In 2016 Charlotte qualified as an AAT accountant and was awarded Apprentice of the Year during her studies at Basingstoke College of Technology.

Charlotte likes keeping fit at the gym and often runs in support of charitable causes. When relaxing she enjoys a wide range of music.

Sally’s cheerful personality and ‘Get things done’ attitude means she fits well into our very busy Accounts Team. Managing a range of responsibilities including client billing, supplier payments and day to day banking issues, Sally has a highly professional approach which reflects the ethos and standards of the company. A Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT), Sally’s experience and all round skills are proving to be a valuable asset; well appreciated by clients and colleagues alike.
Background
Having gained A level passes in Accounting and Business Studies, together with 10 GCEs, Sally embarked on a career in accounts which has taken in positions with West Berkshire Council and Vodafone. However most significantly, Sally enjoyed positions of key financial responsibility with a major local retailer, which like S&C Slatter, placed a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.

Socially, Sally’s interests include bodyboarding, sightseeing, history and pub quizzes.

Steve has responsibility for the contract management of our Football Foundation /Football Association Framework projects. As an experienced professional with a broad and varied civil engineering background, Steve ensures all new contract enquiries are administered and completed comprehensively and in good time.

Following 30 years of operating within the major contractor environment and since 2007 in the specialist sports construction sector, Steve is well attuned to the client’s requirements. He joined S&C Slatter in 2011 and holds the requisite CSCS and SMSTS certificates for site management.

Steve spends his spare time indulging in his passion for drifting – a high octane sport for drivers who like to slide sideways around corners!
Responsibilities
Peter uses his substantial construction experience to manage contracts within our works programme. With a constant and growing throughput of new artificial turf projects as well as carpark and infrastructure projects, Peter’s industry knowledge, coupled with a keen eye for detail, enables him to maximise resources and deliver even the most challenging contracts to brief and on schedule.
Clients also appreciate Peter’s commitment to regular and consistent communication which helps keep them informed at all times.
Background
Peter secured a BSc in Chemistry with Management from University College, London before entering the industry as a Management Trainee. Over the next few years he progressed through to a highly-qualified Contracts Manager before joining S&C Slatter in the same role. During this time, he managed projects ranging from a few thousand pounds to £4 million. This included having the opportunity to work on key events and projects such as the Olympic Games and Paralympics, Wimbledon, MLB London Series, Waterside Drive Sports Hub and Crossrail.

In his social life, Peter enjoys spending time with family and friends, Sport is a major interest, particularly watching England playing cricket and rugby. Peter is part way through a ‘travel wish list’ of places he wants to visit.

Left school as a welding fabricator & 4 years later commenced my career at S&C Slatter. Having been a labourer, a site manager, contracts supervisor and now a contracts manager, I have an enhanced knowledge of the business from all aspects.

Responsibilities
Managing construction contracts at all levels, from the smallest playground to a single tennis court to the largest full size AGP with clubhouse and carpark with full road infrastructure.
A very experienced contracts manager in many different aspects of construction including full groundwork packages for secondary schools aswell as IAAF running tracks, sports pitches for all sports and even artificial horse racing tracks, making sure projects are built on time, within budget and with integrity.
Background
Worked within the sports construction industry for 30 years, started with Woodholme construction in 1990 using laser technology for paving, progressing to tarmac foreman, and moving into contract management in 2005. In the 30 years within the industry I have worked on both the commonwealth games running tracks within the UK, both Manchester and Hampden Park as well Alexander stadium, Don Valley, Crystal Palace and lots more in schools, colleges and universities. Also working with numerous football clubs including Aston Villa's training ground at Bodymoor heath and Leicester City at Belvoir Road and to complete the varied works within sports construction completed the upper construction works at Lingfield Park and Wolverhampton all weather race courses.

Enjoys all sports across the board, a very keen golfer and loves to spend time fishing from the beach in summer. Away from sport likes fine wine and dining.

Liaising closely with our Contract managers and Site teams, Simon procures and arranges materials and out-sourced services to enable projects to be delivered to specification, budget and time plan.
Background
Prior to joining the S&C Slatter team in 2015, Simon enjoyed a successful career in the Building Services Sector developing his experience and skills as he progressed from a Purchasing Assistant to Buyer within a team managing a multi-million-pound project portfolio. Qualified in Supply Chain Management and currently working towards a CIPS qualification. Simon enjoys a strong working relationship with both colleagues and external suppliers.

Very much into ‘active hobbies’, Simon lists scuba diving (advanced open water), football, running, gym, cycling and hiking amongst his interests.

Assisting the lead buyer with placing orders. Liaising with Contracts Managers/Site Managers to ensure materials are on site in time and on budget. Preparing O&M manuals post project.
Background
Completed a Business Apprenticeship at West Berkshire Council and then went on to do buying at a major surveying equipment company. Experienced the customer service side of things as a customer service representative, and then naturally magnetised back to buying!

Keen skier, helping out on the family shoot & around the farm, walking my springer Dexter in the fresh air and spending time with family and friends.
Responsibilities
Daniel is an experienced customer service professional who fulfils a pivotal role within our Technical team. Administration, logistics and the general co-ordination of project management activities feature within Daniel’s key responsibilities. He very importantly also acts a conduit with other departments; making an important contribution to the company’s internal communications and liaison.
Background
Prior to joining S&C Slatter in 2016, Daniel enjoyed a progressive career path within the customer service environment of various technical industries including construction. His organisational abilities and strong IT skills coupled with a keen eye for detail enabled Daniel to manage complex logistical issues within time-sensitive situations.
Personal
Outside of work Daniel has a number of interests including football, cricket, golf, singing and music.

Caroline is the ‘C’ in S&C Slatter, founding the company with her late husband Steve in 1991.
Caroline adopts an overseeing approach to the company, it’s direction and modus operandi, providing invaluable guidance as the business continues to grow from strength to strength.
