For the avid football fan, having the perfect pitch for a game is essential. Manchester Tennis Centre wanted to ensure that within their Etihad Campus, their 3G artificial grass football pitches provided just that.
S&C Slatter have proudly completed the resurfacing works on three 5-a-side pitches at the Etihad Campus for the community in Manchester. From the materials used to the process of laying down new turf and more, read on to discover how Manchester Tennis Centre is ensuring elite quality for all their players.
The Etihad Campus is a world-class sporting and leisure complex in “Sportcity” located in the heart of Manchester, home to the City Football Academy, Etihad Stadium, and Manchester Tennis and Football Centre. The Centre is a premier tennis and football facility, offering a range of programmes and events for all ages and abilities. The Centre is also home to the Manchester Foundation Tennis Academy, which provides high-quality coaching and competitive opportunities for young people from across Greater Manchester.
Manchester Tennis and Football Centre recognised our experience in delivering the best possible facilities for sports clubs across England and appointed S&C Slatter to carry out essential resurfacing works on three of their artificial grass football pitches. The works took place between 6th February – 24nd February 2023 with the pitches resurfaced all at once, within schedule, minimising the disruption to all the members. S&C Slatter’s dedicated site teams stripped the original surface, carried out base mediation works, replaced the rebound boards surrounding the perimeter, and finally resurfaced the three pitches with the new high-quality 3G carpet from our partners at Field Turf
All three pitches have been resurfaced with a new generation of artificial grass that is more durable than the turf we replaced. The new 3G Turf has a lower carbon footprint than traditional pitches, making it more sustainable for the future. Artificial Grass Pitches are designed to withstand heavy usage and all-weather conditions, but over time they can start to show signs of wear and tear. Resurfacing is a process that involves removing the old surface and replacing it with a new one, which can be done to improve player experience and safety on the 3G Turf, or to simply extend the life of the pitch.
