Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate identified their Muggles area – previously home to an obsolete go-kart track and outdated assault course – as an opportunity to develop something truly unique and in keeping with their exceptional facilities. The goal: to create a vibrant, multifunctional outdoor space that would encourage physical activity, social interaction, and help attract future boarders.

The Queen Ethelburga’s team sought a partner they could trust to bring their ambitious vision to life – designing a vibrant new space, removing obsolete structures, and delivering an exciting outdoor environment to enhance the boarding experience and increase holiday camp bookings.
They chose S&C Slatter for our specialist expertise, collaborative approach, and the trust built through our successful delivery of previous significant projects for the school.

Muggles is a distinctive new space that is already delivering on its ambition to inspire and attract boarders. It has become a dynamic hub of activity, social interaction and movement, where students can explore, climb, skate and play in a safe, welcoming environment.
The school is actively promoting the facility both online and in print, successfully boosting summer camp bookings and clearly differentiating its boarding proposition in a competitive market.
